Go Cubs Go!

Chicago has been a blast. We've been staying with Jamie who has been an incredible hostess, showing us around the city and providing comfortable lodging.
Cool city--we got deep dish pizza last night and went out to a blues bar. We also saw a movie being filmed in the Lincoln Park area (Public Enemies--Johnny Depp, Christian Bale apparently?).
Got a little sleep last night and woke up this morning to pouring rain, so it didn't look good for the Cubbies game (predicted thunderstorms with "large hail and damaging winds"). Luckily it held off and turned into a nice day letting us see one of the greatest baseball games I've ever seen. The Rockies rolled early, going up 8-0 and 9-1 in the 6th (at which point I texted Jake to let him know about the ongoing beatdown). HOWEVER, in the bottom of the 6th the Cubs came roaring back scoring 9 unanswered and won the game 10-9. Unbelievable comeback... A Cub reliever struck out three straight batters in the 8th on 10 pitches--all looking. And Mark DeRosa's two-run game-winning shot in the 7th was on a 3-2 pitch with everyone on their feet. Unreal.
Wrigley is beautiful--the best park I've ever been to and some great fans--sweeeeet atmosphere.
We went to a couple bars afterwards since everyone around was in a good mood and had some fun. Drew talked a bit to a HOTT (his voice) girlie sitting at the table next to us, but unfortunately we decided not to go to the batting cages she was headed to.
Brierley had to leave to catch her flight :( and we grabbed some thai food and headed back to Jamie's where we are watching Wednesday's Real World and about to get to bed (Will just had a crazy crazy outburst by the way...totally unexpected).
We go to Madison, WI tomorrow to see Mr. Colin Harari. We're going to see the Brewers-Astros game tomorrow night (3rd game in 4 days, not too shabby).
Celtics beat the Pistons to make the NBA Finals tonight. So they got that goin' for them.
We'll blog more tomorrow on the drive from the Chi to the WI. The Real World just ended. Bedtime.

kisses,
Eli

CHICAGO.......

So we had a great time today, cubbies game was amazing then we hung out in wrigleyville. We are all exhausted so just leave you with pictures tonight.

and its neck and neck...

rolling out of ohio next to some bitties the true shenanigans begin. drews buttocks has already graced their view, and streaks come hither looks might have been mistaken for something not so innocent. eli is in the rear contemplating the best position to pee in the bottle we purchased in case the situation arises. its gonna take the flexibility of a ballerina to be able to pull it off drip drop free.

and its that time in our show for our drewism for the day. this little tidbit was uttered as we gazed romantically over the falls. drewism #2: "it's beautiful looking out into the abist." we think this is a cross between abyss and mist, but to delve any deeper into the mind of our purple nurpled droopy could prove dangerous.

in other news, streaksy is leading the shit left on top of the car game with a solid 3 (leaving a scorecard and peanuts, his sweatshirt, and his candy). not to be outdone, eli and drew got on the board with the leaving of their respective wallets. lucky we dont have a baby on board, cause we'd probably leave them too.

well, streaks is on the wheel (watch those 'bows) as we are chi town bound. Jaime's house tonight, cubbies manana, and  good times for all.

full stomachs, shirts off, music blaring. eli has spotted both portland ave and oregon road signs. loves ohio. signing off from the asphalt paradise,

Lactaid.....

As we leave Cleveland I reflect on the great time that we had here. An exciting baseball game, the shenanigans at the science museum, the inspiring rock n roll hall of fame, and a great pizza dinner.

We also probably just had the best accommodations of our trip. We stayed at the Fleshmans, my parents friends house. We arrived at 10:30pm to the smell of fresh brownies and cookies courtesy of Carla the mom, and Tamar, the daughter. After we watched the Celtics pull out the win against the Pistons, we had a intense row sham for beds. Marshall and I won, with the prize of sharing a huge (insert streaks' voice) king size bed. So huge (again insert streaks'  pronunciation) that we both spread out and could not touch each other and so comfy that we slept in until 10:30. Streaks got the couch and Eli, the 4th place finisher, slept on the carpeted floor. In the morning after we all took a refreshing shower (together.....? maybe) Carla had breakfast and the paper waiting. While reading the funnies we gorged ourselves with scrum-shish bagels, lox, tomatoes, onions, cereal, toped of with some fruit.

As we left the house we got distracted by the Fleshman's basketball hoop and played a not so quick game of cat/dog/mat/hip. Unfortunately I lost and now have to DD the next time we need one. I blame my loss on the nerf ball we used. It was too light for my powerful muscular arms and could not get the right touch.

Now back to the title of my post. Two days ago, I would say roughly around 12:31 pm in upstate New York , we all had a rumbling in our tummies. As we took out Eli's sandwiches, that he tirelessly slaved over until the wee hours of the night before we left, I went into my bag to search for my lactaid pills as the sandwiches had cheese on them. Unfortunately they were not there....I looked again and again and again and could not find them. I knew exactly what pocket I put them in and was perplexed why they were not there. As a result I missed out on Pizza last night, and have been a little bloaty and constipated from the cheese in Eli's sandwiches and cream cheese from breakfast the following day. Luckily for my fellow journeymen I did not consume enough dairy products for my flatulents to become smelly. It was not until this morning when I finally found a store that carried lactaid, the third one I tried in two days, did I find out what had happened to my mysteriously vanishing lactaid. It turns out that a fellow housemate, who I will not mention because of the severity of the crime and because I will not give him the satisfaction, took my lactaid before the trip as a prank. While I will admit it was funny, annoying is also another good word to describe it.

On a more serious note, marshall just destroyed streaks in the alphabet game. He finished while streaks was still only on X. We are on the road to Chicago, and in six short hours we will be there.

steaming on through

as another day on this journey comes to a close, the glory that is cleveland seems to steam from every uncleaned pore of our bodies. though the indians lost 5-6 to the white stockings of chicago, the ball game was a real barn burner, which left us cruising rock and roll hall of fame bound with shouts following us of "yo, you got peanuts on top of your car dude!" thanks bro.

while waiting for the lesbos we had a science excursion at the kids science center place next to lake eerie. this was a complete disaster, with your heroic journeymen crashing 7 simulated space shuttles, 2 planes, 1 train and 3 hang gliders. oh look at me honey, i'm simulating flying, i'm simulating flying.....i'm dead.

the hall rocked, and failing to sneak on to johnny cash's tour bus made me think that i would have been a terrible groupie. back to the current, eli is laughing at the caveman commercial on tv. poor form, streaks seems offended.

this brings us to our new feature of the day... drewisms. no explanation possible. drewism #1: "we're in lingo."

signing off from the land of milk and drew carry,
yours truly,
M

ps. i took a commanding lead at "horse!" with 17. no....big....deal....

Cleveland, O-H-I-O

To clarify, my alphabet game win over Drew was a nailbiting come-from-behind affair in which he held a V-U advantage before I tied it up at Y and recognized that we were following a car called a RENDEZVOUS and spotted the Z for the win. The crowd went nuts. To ease the suspense that I'm sure many of had wondering if we made the game in time, we DID (thanks to some excellent driving by, um, yours truly, not a big deal really). We strolled in during the national anthem and were in our seats for the first pitch. The White Sox edged the Indians 6-5 with Cleveland stranding runners on second and third to end the game. Jacobs Field is b-e-a-utiful.
We had some down time so we went to the science museum where we each got our asses handed to us by a flight simulation game. Then we ran into Alyssa and Caitlin at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. They showed up out of nowhere, we couldn't believe it. The hall of fame had some pretty cool stuff, saw a couple videos, and it's right on the water. Marshall tried to sweet talk his way onto the Johnny Cash bus, but the girl working security had none of it. He threw his best lines at her, but apparently these laid back country folk are are pretty stubborn. I only wish I could resist his boyish charm.
After that we tried to lose the girls. But to no avail. We ate some pizza and drank some (soapy) beer.
We just watched the end of the Celtics win for game 5. And we are tired. I just lost a rosham for the bed here at Drew's parents' friend's house. So it's the floor for me. Luckily I could sleep pretty much anywhere right now so it won't matter.
Chi-town tomorrow baby.

Oh and Cooperstown was awesome. Drew and I both got packs of baseball cards. My was better because I got a piece of gum AND a So Taguchi card. How Taguchi is he?

by the way

I forgot to sign the last one...

ahhh missed another one

The rainbow and the always handsome mass exodus journeymen in front of Niagara Falls

So while blogging i just missed filming another entering state sign....this is unfortunate because i was going to try to film every sign and this is already the second of three that i have missed. a good batting average but thats about it.

Other news, while sleepy miss sleeperton and marshall were napping in the back this morning Eli and I played the alphabet game. for those who dont know the finer points of this game I will explain. The winner must find all the letters of the alphabet, in order, on license plates signs ext. while driving, and the same letter cant be used twice. So now the outcome: It was a nail bitter as eli edged me out finding the z moments before I found it as well. My first loss in well over 6 years

On a more serious note. Pennsylvania sucks....... who does road work during the day. especially when we have to make a 12:05 game.

Update: it is currently 11:00, sven has us reaching cleveland at 11:59 (we have already made up 25 minutes)....the race is on!

Gooood Morning Niagraaa!

What more can a guy ask for then to wake up in another man's arms in the morning...I woke up in not just any man's arms, but a studly one by the name of Marshall somers.  I didn't want to leave his warm grasp, but alas the proposition of an econo lodge continental breakfast was too much.  Drew and I were very happy with our packing job (insert fudge packing joke here) until we walked away from the car and saw that marshall's sleeping bag had rolled under the car...DOH!! At breakfast we all went cookoo for coocpuffs, the breakfast of journeymen.

we interrupt this blog with an important announcement: marshall somers is now at 12 in the horse game with an excellent sighting.

The majestic Niagra Falls was our next stop, and we were treated with a beautiful rainbow which brought out the emotions in all of us. We shared feelings for each other that we never had the courage to say, and I gotta say that i feel closer the these men.  And then marshall pooped over the falls!

next stop: Jacob's field...only if Pennsylvania stops sucking!!

ken, econo lodges, and water falls

sitting here in my underwear in an econo lodge next to eli in bed in similar robe dancing in celebration of the mariners walk off win against the red sox can only mean one thing, this roadtrip has begun. drew entered the "brake streaks' car game" with a bang today as he failed to pull out properly and left the business end of the car key stuck in the passenger side door. lets call it drew 1, car 0. in other games we played, i was up with 9 horse spottings. drew claimes he had 20 cows, though i dont think it counts when we're all watching a movie and cannot verify cow sitings. streaks sits at -14 after multiple false cow and horse sitings, and one dead frog call. to be fair, he did have an outstanding donkey call.

at niagara falls the romantic colors might have given us all that extra little push we needed to the dark side. only sharing beds tonight can tell for sure. to be honest, purple was my favorite color as we looked longingly on our neighboring land to the north, canada. and the indians ownzored us at their casino.

as eli snores, i sign out,
yours truly,
M

On The Way!

Well, we have shipped out of Boston and are a little over an hour into our journey.  This car is quite full.  I am currently sitting in the back left seat and can hardly see Drew sitting across from me.  We have wireless in the car (courtesy of Verizon) and have been rockin' Pete's video camera early and often.
We took our first wrong turn already, exiting prematurely off the Mass Pike.  This was followed up by our first blatantly illegal move as we quickly realized the mistake and pulled a quick U-turn in between a couple cones.  Nice.
It is hot as HECK in this car.  Good thing we have plenty of room to spread out.*  Next stop, Cooperstown.
